Scientific Dreamers
The international competition of readers of works in English among 1st-year students of non-linguistic universities was held as part of the events “Week of Foreign Languages”.The organizer was the Department of Foreign and Russian Languages of the St. Petersburg University of Telecommunications named after prof. M. A. Bonch-Bruevich.The theme of this year’s poetry contest is “Scientific Dreamers”. Students chose poems by R. Kipling, W. Whitman, E. Dickinson, E. W. Wilcox, contemporary authors, and performed their own compositions.
It is worth noting that the competition of readers was attended by 1st-year students of the specialty “General Medicine” of the Marat Ospanov ZKMU: Satybek Kadirbergenov, Hamit Zhuldyz, Lunara Aliturlieva, Muldir Shansharkhanova, Aruzhan Suleimenova.The scientific supervisors of the contestants are the teachers of the Department of Social and Humanitarian Disciplines M. M. Knisarina and G. U. Bekeshova. The participants ‘ videos submitted to the contest were evaluated according to the following criteria: competent speech, compliance with the rules of pronunciation and intonation of the English language, artistry of performance, and the semantic structure of the text.
2 The place of honor was taken by the 1st year student of the specialty “General Medicine” of the Marat Ospanov ZKMU Lunara Aliturlieva, who performed the work in English “I look to Science” by Ella Wheeler Wilcox. The jury also noted the video of Satybek Kadirbergenov, who, when performing the work “Scientific inquiry” by Susan Blackaby, presented a vivid image of a research student in his video.
All participants were awarded with diplomas and letters of thanks from the management of the St. Petersburg State University of Telecommunications named after Prof. M. A. Bonch-Bruevich.
