In memory of a famous doctor…
On April 1, 2023, Professor Kuandyk Duisenovich Duisenov, the head of the Department of Infectious Diseases from 1983 to 1994, the vice-rector for Clinical Work of the ASMI during these years, would have turned 83 years old.
The Department of Infectious Diseases and the staff of OKIB honored the memory of the outstanding figure of infectology of the USSR. The current head of the department, a student of Kuandyk Duisenovich, Professor M.S. Kurmangazin, chief physician of OKIB Zh.B. Kambarov, spoke with memories of the Mentor. Flowers are laid at the memorial plaque.
Duisenov K.D. was a highly qualified infectious disease doctor with 30 years of continuous work experience. He repeatedly participated in the elimination of outbreaks of infectious diseases in the Aktobe region, worked in the centers of plague in the Mangystau region, cholera in the Guryev region, Crimean hemorrhagic fever and viral hepatitis A in the Kyzylorda region, worked as a member of the commission of the Ministry of Health of the USSR in the Krasnoyarsk Territory.
Author of more than 100 scientific papers, 8 methodological recommendations, 7 author’s certificates. Prof. Duisenov K.D. has priority in developing a new and comprehensive approach to the rehabilitation of patients with brucellosis. Duisenov K.D. was one of the first to write a Russian-Kazakh dictionary of medical terms in infectious pathology for students and doctors, was the initiator of writing a textbook on infectious diseases in Kazakhstan.
