Implementation of the visiting professor program at the department of psychology of the West Kazakhstan Marat Ospanov medical university for the 2023-2024 academic year

From December 04 to 08, the Visiting Professor program was implemented at the Department of Psychology of the Marat Ospanov State Medical University by Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), Associate Professor Alena Garber, psychologist at the Reinhardshöhe Rehabilitation Clinic, Hesse, Germany (Psychologist Rehabilitation Clinic Reinhardshöhe, Hessen, Germany).

The professor gave interesting and informative lectures online for students of the 1st, 3rd, 5th courses of the specialties “Dentistry”, “Clinical Psychology” and “General Medicine” on the following topics: “Empathy. Emotional intelligence. Verbal and non-verbal components of empathy”, “Sad news message. SPIKES Protocol”, “Models of personality behavior in conflict”, “Medical interview”.

An open lecture was held on 06.12.2023 for all interested university teaching staff and students in the discipline “Medical Psychology” on the topic “Psychotherapy. Types and principles of psychotherapy”.

The practical results of fruitful collaboration with a foreign professor within the framework of the visiting professor program are not only conducting lectures and practical classes, but also consulting the professor on correcting/refining the syllabus on the discipline “Medical Psychology” for the 3rd year of the specialty “Clinical Psychology”.

Scientific and methodological issues related to the preparation of scientific texts for publication in international journals were also discussed.
