Community of mercy
The VIII Republican conference with the participation of international experts “Community of Mercy: 10 years of the Kazakhstan Palliative Care Association” was held in Almaty. It is a non-profit, non-governmental, charitable organization promoting a humane philosophy and the best global practice of palliative care in Kazakhstan. The current conference was dedicated to presenting the achievements of the palliative community, getting acquainted with new technologies for organizing assistance, discussing current tasks and prospects for the development of palliative care in Kazakhstan.
The event was attended by more than 250 medical, social and psychological specialists from different regions of the country. During the conference, experts and listeners were able to widely discuss the issues of teaching and practical organization of palliative care, as well as its socio-psychological, communicative and clinical aspects.
The report “The experience of teaching communication skills in palliative care at the WK Marat Ospanov MU” was made by the head of the Department of Psychology, PhD A.Miraleyeva. During the discussion, conference participants from Kazakhstan and other countries recognized that communication is important for the relationship between a doctor and a patient, to ensure “humane, high-quality care” from the experts. Currently, poor communication is a serious problem affecting the medical profession.
PhD T.Ostretsova made presentations on “Analysis of the organization of the educational process on palliative care in the Republic of Kazakhstan and international recommendations for its improvement” and “Pain therapy is an ever-urgent problem in palliative care”, which highlighted the urgent problems of teaching and palliative care and ways to solve them.
A.Miraleyeva and T.Ostretsova weres awarded a commemorative medals in honor of the 10th anniversary of the KPCA “Community of Mercy” and a letters of thanks from the Chairman of the Board of Kazakhstan Scientific Research Institute of Oncology and Radiology D.Kaidarova and the President of the Kazakhstan Palliative Care Association G.Kunirova.
