«Protecting Youth from the Tobacco Industry»

Every year on May 31, the World Health Organization marks World No Tobacco Day, drawing attention to the health risks associated with tobacco use and effective policy measures to reduce tobacco consumption.

As part of the implementation of the resolution of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated February 29, 2024, No. 141, within the Concept of Health Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan until 2026, a smoke-free environment has been created.

On this occasion, a large-scale sports event was held at the Family Medicine Clinic, together with urban polyclinics No. 2, No. 6, and No. 7 of the city of Aktobe, under the slogan «Protecting Youth from the Tobacco Industry» at the sports ground of the Marat Ospanov West Kazakhstan Medical University, as well as flash mobs, demonstrations, and sports games involving students of the Youth Health Center.”

This action is in line with SDG 3, «Good Health and Well-being», specifically subparagraph 3.a «Strengthen implementation of the World Health Organisation Framework Convention on Tobacco Control in all countries, as appropriate».
