Critical situations in neonatology and paediatrics
Within the framework of implementation of the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) in the Children Simulation Centre of Marat Ospanov West Kazakhstan medical university a master class on “Critical situations in neonatology and paediatrics” was held from 27 June to 29 June with the participation of doctor of anesthesiologist-resuscitator of the highest category, expert of simulation training in medicine A.E. Verevkin (Moscow, Russia) faculty of the university and doctors of neonatology and pediatrics. This activity is in line with SDG 3 «Ensure healthy lifestyles and promote well-being for all at all ages», specifically sub-item 3.2 «End preventable mortality in children under 5 years of age».
Target 3.2, linked to SDG 3, sets the direction: “By 2030, end preventable neonatal and under-5 mortalities, with all countries aiming to reduce neonatal mortality to no more than 12 deaths per 1,000 live births and under-5 mortalities to no more than 25 deaths per 1,000 live births”. The main indicators are: 2.1. Mortality rate of children under 5 years of age, 2.2. Number of infant mortality.
The aim of this event was to practice clinical scenarios in paediatrics and neonatology in critical situations on high-tech robotic simulators. More than 60 participants took part in the master class, and 10 clinical scenarios on current topics in paediatrics and neonatology were practiced.
