Elnec Annual Palliative Care Workshop
The head of the Department of Psychology, PhD Alua Miraleyeva took part in an educational seminar on palliative care, which was held from November 3 to November 9 in Salzburg (Austria).
The seminar addressed the issues of providing specialized care to patients and their family members facing serious illnesses and/or passing away. These are «The state and development of palliative care in the world», «Pain and pain relief», «Symptom control», «Communication skills in palliative care», «Loss, grief, bereavement», «Leadership», «Resilience and self-care of medical workers», «Ethics», «Culture considerations».
The schedule consisted of a combination of 12 didactic lectures, reflection, small group work based on CBL learning, and presentations by fellows. The teachers of the seminar are leaders of palliative care in the world, authors of international recommendations on symptom control, teachers of leading universities.
The seminar participants received the latest recommendations on patient management and links to international palliative care resources. It was also useful to learn from the teaching experience and share experiences with seminar participants from other countries.
