Told about AIDS prevention

On November 21, 2023, at the Department of Hygienic Disciplines with Occupational Diseases, as part of cooperation between universities, together with the Astana Medical University and the Aktobe AIDS Center, a round table was organized online on the ZOOM platform, dedicated to World AIDS Day on the topic: “Prevention AIDS among youth.”

The purpose of the event: to increase students’ knowledge about the problem of HIV/AIDS at the present time, to develop a tolerant attitude towards HIV-infected people.

The organization of this event, dedicated to an important and pressing problem, which is HIV infection, was attended by 3rd year students of the Faculty of Pharmacy of the West Kazakhstan Medical University named after Marat Ospanov (responsible senior teacher Shayakhmetova K.N), 4th year students of the Faculty of General Medicine Medical University of Astana (responsible teacher, researcher at the Research Institute of Preventive Medicine named after E.N. Dalenov Nurbergen Zh.N), students, teachers, as well as deputy chief physician of the Aktobe AIDS Center for organizational, methodological and epidemiological issues Kaspirova A.A.

Students from both universities prepared video materials, presentations in which they presented general information on HIV infection, historical data and pointed out the problems of this disease, as well as the main routes of transmission of the virus, morbidity statistics and ongoing preventive measures.

Then the round table was continued by the deputy. chief physician of the Aktobe AIDS Center for organizational, methodological and epidemiological issues Kaspirova A.A., who presented data on the epidemiological situation on HIV/AIDS for 10 months of 2023 in the Aktobe region, HIV prevention carried out by the regional center, the main goals and their achievements in the region by 2023. During the round table, students learned the real situation about morbidity not only in their regions of residence, but also in the world, about how the human immune system works and measures to prevent HIV infection.

At the end of the event, the teachers summed up the results and thanked the students for their participation in this event, expressing hope for further joint cooperation in the field of preventing not only HIV infection, but also a healthy lifestyle.
