The role of non-formal education in the higher education system
The teaching staff of the Marat Ospanov West Kazakhstan Medical University annually upgrade their qualifications in pedagogical competencies. Advanced training is understood as formal and informal training necessary for mastering modern methods of solving professional and pedagogical tasks that contribute to the improvement of managerial, educational, methodological, scientific, innovative, creative and educational activities of the university.
Professional development in pedagogical competencies is aimed at solving the following tasks:
— Improving teaching skills.
— Study and implementation of new technologies in the educational process.
— Activation of research, methodological, innovative and creative activities.
— Improving competence in the field of scientific management and quality management of educational activities.
Professional development in pedagogical competencies is carried out at the expense of the university, attracting teachers from other departments with relevant qualification requirements, as well as from other universities in Aktobe and Kazakhstan.

The purpose of the courses is to coordinate the activities of teachers for self-development and self-improvement throughout their lives.
