History of the department:

Department of Surgical Diseases No. 1 was founded in September 2010. Initially, the department was called faculty surgery, which was founded in 1960. The first head of the department from 1960 to 1970. was a doctor of medical sciences, professor Shabanov Mikhail Shabanovich. From 1971 to 1981 the department was headed by Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Poleshchuk Ivan Sergeevich. From 1981 to 1995 the head of the department was Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Biryuchkov Yuri Vasilievich. From 1996 to 1998 the department was headed by Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Koblandin Sarsen Nagimovich. From 1998 to 2000, the department was headed by Doctor of Medical Sciences. professor, member – corr. Academy of Medical Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, State Prize Laureate, Rector of the Academy Doskaliev Zhaksylyk Akmurzaevich. From 2000 to 2002, the department was headed by Doctor of Medical Sciences, Rector of the Academy – Zholmukhamedov Kairat Kanatovich. From 2004-2009, the Department of Faculty Surgery was headed by Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Zhakiev Bazylbek Sagidollaevich. From 2002 to 2004 and from November 2009 to September 2011 he headed the department Professor Akataev Nagashybai Akataevich. From September 2011 to 2015, he headed the department, Doctor of Medical Sciences., Professor Kurmangaliev Oleg Maratovich. From September 2015 to 2023, the department was headed by associate professor, candidate of medical sciences, surgeon of the highest category Zhumabaev Marat Nigmatovich. From September 2023 to the present, the head of the department is Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor Kelimberdiev Mirsaid Saubetovich

Objective: The main objective of the department is to provide high-quality training to students in the surgical discipline; the educational process is an integral part of daily work. Surgery is the main treatment method for surgical patients.

Activity:

Educational and methodological, medical, scientific, educational work. The clinical bases of the department at different times were: Aktobe City Clinical Hospital, Aktobe Railway Hospital, Medical Center of West Kazakhstan State Medical University named after Marat Ospanov, Aktobe Regional Hospital. Currently, the department is based in a multidisciplinary regional hospital. The department provides educational process for 4th year students in the bachelor’s degree 5B130100 – “General Medicine”. The department conducts practical classes and gives lectures to 4th-year students. Since its foundation, the department has been constantly operating a student scientific circle, whose members at one time included such famous scientists as the former Minister of Health, and now the director of the institution “Republican Coordination Center for Transplantation” Doskaliev Zh..A., former rector of the academy, and now head of the department of the Committee for Control in the Field of Medical and Pharmaceutical Activities in the Aktobe Region Sabyr K.K. The results of the scientific achievements of the circle members were presented at various international symposiums and conferences, where they deservedly won prizes.

Scientific activities of the department has the following areas: – prevention and treatment of purulent-septic complications in emergency surgery; – minimally invasive surgery. – treatment of destructive forms of acute pancreatitis. Since 2019, the department has been implementing the scientific and technological progress “The role of cytokine gene polymorphism in the development and prognosis of acute pancreatitis in the Kazakh population: analysis intergenic interactions.” The results of scientific research have been introduced into everyday clinical practice – methods for treating the stump of the appendix during laparoscopic appendectomies, indirect revascularization methods – osteoperforation of the feet and regional infusion method vasoprostan for diabetic foot syndrome, as well as a method of frenocolopexy for anomalies of fixation of sections of the large intestine. The University repository and the University library fund are annually filled with publications of the department’s employees. Employees of the Department of Surgical Diseases No. 1 actively participate in the treatment process of the Department of General Surgery.

Achievements: Since the establishment of the department, employees have published 10 monographs, published more than 900 scientific articles, 6 textbooks, more than 20 teaching aids, including 8 in the state language. The number of certificates of inventions and rationalization proposals is more than 35. The number of doctoral dissertations prepared and defended is 3, candidate’s theses are more than 20.
