History of creation
The Department of Faculty Therapy, now the Department of Internal Medicine No. 1 was organized in 1960 year.
The organizer and the first head of the department was the candidate of medical Sciences, lieutenant colonel of the m/s, member of the CPSU M. A. Dudchenko. In 1974-1976, the Department of Faculty Therapy was headed by Professor R. Kh. Kadyrova. From 1976 to 1994, the department was headed by Professor E. G. Perepelkin. From 1995 to 1998, the Department of Faculty Therapy was headed by Professor K. Zh. Akhmetov. From 1998 to 2010, she headed the department of R.T. Agzamova. From 2010 to 2012, she headed the department of H.I.Kudabaeva. From 2012 to 03.2014, she headed the department of L.M.Tulegenova.
In different years, G. P.Shigirt, A.K. Shairo, A.P. Polyakova, S.I. Logvinenko, N.K. Gulin, A.S.Derbisalin, A.N. Shakirova, G.V. Lilitsa, M.S. Taeva, E.U. Tulemisov worked at the Department of Faculty Therapy, now Internal Diseases №1.
Since 2014 year head of the department of Internal Medicine №1 – Bazargaliev Yerlan Shaimerdenovich.

Activities
Pedagogical and methodological activities
The Department of Internal Diseases trains 3rd year students of the Faculty of Dentistry, 4th year students of the Faculty of General Medicine in the discipline of Internal Diseases, military service students in the discipline of Military field therapy.
The Department of World Health Organization №1 trains residents in the specialty “Gastroenterology adult, children”, “Endocrinology adult, children”, “Rheumatology adult, children”.
Scientific activities
Conducts fundamental scientific research in the main areas of research work of the department. Publishes the results of scientific research in scientific publications reviewed in the databases Scopus, Web of Sciences (Q1, Q2, Q3), CQAFSHE; participates in various scientific and practical conferences and seminars.
Medical activities
All employees of the department carry out medical and diagnostic activities in the departments of the AMC assigned to them.
Achievements
The staff of the department defended their dissertations in Moscow, Almaty, Aktobe. Dissertations for the following titles were defended at the department: Doctor of Medical Sciences – 3; PhD – 3; Candidate of Medical Sciences – 4; Master of Medical Sciences – 5. Dissertation works were carried out according to various ciphers: internal diseases, endocrinology, clinical pharmacology, the medicine.
Professor of the department Kudabaeva H.I. is trained in the principles of conducting international clinical trials and participates in International research on diabetes.
The main direction of scientific research of the staff of the department in different periods: from 2002 to 2007 years at the Department of Internal Diseases №1 scientific work was carried out on the topic: “Development of methods for the diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the upper gastrointestinal tract associated with Helicobacter pylori”. Scientific supervisors: MD, Professor Bektaeva R.R., M.H.Sc, Professor of the Academy Agzamova R.T.
The staff of the department participated in scientific research within the framework of grant financing of research works of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan:
– 2013-2015 years on the topic “Epidemiology of endemic goiter in the Western region of Kazakhstan and the development of recommendations for the prevention of iodine deficiency conditions”;
– From 2016 to 2018 in a “Randomized placebo-controlled study of the safety, therapeutic efficacy of the oral form of the drug FS-1 in resistant forms of tuberculosis”;
– Since 2021 year STP “Development of innovative and highly effective technologies aimed at reducing the risk of premature mortality from diseases of the circulatory system, chronic respiratory diseases and diabetes”.
From 2018 to 2021 years the STP was conducted at the department within the framework of intra-university funding on the topic: “Molecular genetic aspects of obesity in the Kazakh population”.
Under the guidance of professors Bazargaliev E.Sh., Kudabaeva H.I. and docent Zhamankulova D.G. scientific and pedagogical staff are being trained and more than 40 gastroenterologists, more than 60 endocrinologists for all regions of Western Kazakhstan have been trained in residency and released into practical healthcare.
In total, the staff of the department published more than 1000 works, issued 10 inventions, 3 rationalization proposals, and published 30 methodological recommendations.
As part of the research work of the department 1 employee is studying for a doctoral degree.
