History of creation: the department of nervous diseases was founded in 1961, the first head was Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor Anatoly Y. Shiyanevsky. Then in 1977, Nikolai A. Yakovlev became a doctor of medical sciences, professor. In 1996, Yuri V. Biryuchkov, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor, Honored Worker of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Science and Technology, was elected through a competition to head the joint Department of nervous diseases, neurosurgery, psychiatry and oriental medicine.
From 1999 to 2008, she headed the course of nervous diseases at West Kazakhstan Marat Ospanov State Medical University Aigul Zh.Konysova, candidate of medical sciences, associate professor. From 2008 to 2011 headed by Svetlana Y. Suleymanova, candidate of medical sciences, associate professor. From 2011 to 2017 The department was headed by Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Gulnar B. Kabdrakhmanova. In 2017, the department was divided into 2 independent departments: the department of neurology and the department of neurology with a course in psychiatry and narcology. From 2017 to the present, the head is PhD Dinmukhamed N. Ayaganov
Objectives: improving the quality of the educational process by improving teaching skills to ensure highly qualified graduates.
Activities: the main directions of the department’s work are scientific, pedagogical and clinical activities. Students from the faculty of general medicine, including foreign students, dentistry, and nursing are trained at the department. There are also continuing education cycles in child neurology. The department trains doctoral students in the field of Medicine. Scientific work is carried out on various current topics. On an ongoing basis, weekly rounds are carried out in supervised bases and trips to the regions for advisory support of practical healthcare.
Achievements: at the department, in addition to the educational process, educational and scientific work with students is actively carried out. Students actively participate in scientific circles and annual student conferences. Doctoral research works are carried out in various current areas of neurology and genetics. The staff of the department improve their qualifications in the field of teaching and their specialty. The department is the organizer of international conferences, and annually makes presentations at international conferences.
Master classes, seminars and round tables for practical healthcare in various fields are held annually. Employees are the developers of many clinical protocols for neurological diseases. The department is actively involved in the development of new educational programs. A new educational program for residency in the specialty “Medical Genetics” has been developed. The department’s employees publish on an ongoing basis in peer-reviewed international journals. On an annual basis, the department cooperates with universities in the Russian Federation, Azerbaijan, and Uzbekistan in the form of visiting professors and academic mobility.
The head of the department is a freelance specialist at the Health Department of the Aktobe region and a member of various expert groups. The employees of the department are the organizers of the Society of Children’s Neurologists, Rehabilitologists and Medical Genetics of the Western Region, the chairman of which is Dinmukhamed N. Ayaganov.
