Head of the department:

Kim Svetlana Valentinovna – associate professor, candidate of medical sciences, graduate of the pediatric faculty of the Moscow State Medical Institute. N.I. Pirogov, has headed the department since 2018. After graduating from Moscow State Medical Institute, she worked for three years as a neonatologist in a maternity hospital in Kaluga (Russian Federation). In subsequent years, she studied clinical residency and postgraduate studies at the Research Institute of Pediatrics of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences. After successfully defending his PhD thesis, he has been working at the department since 1994. He has the highest medical category in pediatrics and a cardiologist certificate. Author of more than 100 scientific, methodological and educational publications, teaching aids. Participated in a seminar on the development of curricula for medical universities in the Central Asian region at the University of South Florida, USA, state general educational standards of education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, model programs. In order to study the organization of the educational process and teaching methods, she completed an internship at the Faculty of Medicine of Tel Aviv University in Israel and the World Federation of Medical Education in Denmark. Excellent healthcare worker of the Republic of Kazakhstan, awarded the “Densaulyk saktau isine koskan ulesi ushin” badge and the “Kala Kurmeti” medal.

History of creation:

In 1974, the Department of Hospital Pediatrics of the Aktobe State Medical Institute was opened on the basis of the regional children’s hospital. The first head of the department was Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor Anna Semenovna Tikhonova, a graduate of the Leningrad Pediatric Institute, who worked in this position for 17 years. Under the leadership of Associate Professor A.S. Tikhonova, the formation of educational, methodological, educational, medical, and scientific work of the department began. Her achievements include the creation of a close-knit team of highly qualified employees.

During this period, associate professors worked at the department: Ivashkina T.D., Ismagulova A.U., Petrusheva S.G., Vagapova L.B., Shaferman A.M., assistants: Dosimov Zh.B., Nurpeisova D.Sh. ., Shevchenko R.A., Bakirova D.K., Urdabaeva S.I., Kadyrov K.B., Dzhaugasheva K.K.

From 1991 to 2002, the department was headed by Doctor of Medical Sciences. Baltaev Oryngali Baltaevich – the first professor – pediatrician of the Western region of Kazakhstan.

From 2003 to 2018, the department was headed by Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor, Abdrakhmanov Kuangali Bapashevich, a graduate of AkSMI. Now he continues to work as a professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the Astana Medical University.

The current Department of Childhood Diseases No. 2 was created in 2015 by merging the Department of Hospital Pediatrics and the Department of Pediatrics of the Faculty of Advanced Training for Physicians. Over the years, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Prof. worked at the department. Target:

Training highly qualified personnel to independently work in the provision of pediatric specialized medical care and improving the professional competencies of doctors in accordance with the principles of evidence-based medicine and modern achievements of diagnostic, treatment and pharmaceutical technologies.

Activity:

The Department of Childhood Diseases No. 2 conducts: training of 1st year bachelors in the specialty “Pediatrics”, interns of 6-7 years in the specialty “General Medical Practice”, training of residents in the specialty “Pediatrics”, training of pediatric practitioners in advanced training cycles.

The department carries out extensive pedagogical, educational, methodological, clinical and scientific work. The result of the work carried out by the department is the annual graduation of qualified specialists in demand in practical healthcare. The teaching staff of the department also carries out medical and clinical work in the departments of the Medical Clinical Hospital, providing advisory and methodological assistance in medical institutions in Aktobe, Aktobe region and Western Kazakhstan.

Achievements:

Over the years, the department has carried out scientific activities aimed at studying current problems of pediatric pulmonology, nephrology and neonatology. The result of this activity was the defense of candidate and master’s theses by current and former employees of the department. Employees of the department completed certain fragments of the work of the scientific and technical progress of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan “Development of new technologies for protecting children’s health and reproductive health.” Over the past 5-10 years, employees of the department have published more than 400 scientific publications, published over 10 teaching aids and methodological recommendations, received 4 pre-patents for inventions and copyright certificates. Currently, work is being carried out within the framework of an intra-university grant on the topic: “Clinical and functional indicators of the cardiovascular system in children who have suffered coronavirus infection and the development of a set of corrective measures.”
