History of creation:

The department was founded in 1971. The founder of the department is Professor Doctor of Medical Sciences, Yu.V. Biryuchkov. For many years, the department has been a forge for highly qualified specialists from the Republic of Kazakhstan, the CIS and abroad. These include Professor Akshulakov S.K. Director of the National Center for Neurosurgery in Astana, Loshakov V.A. – Head of the Department of the Brain Research Institute named after. N.N. Burdenko Moscow, Kuzmenko A.A. Head of the Department of Neurosurgery of the Regional Hospital in Krasnodar, Stilidi P.G., Head of the Neurosurgical Center of Thessaloniki, Greece, Chagai A.I., Head of the Department of Neurosurgery in Aktau, Bisenov V.T. Head of the Department of Neurosurgery in Aktobe, Semin A.A. neurosurgeon, Novotroitsk, Golubenko O.E. neurosurgeon, regional hospital in Orenburg. In 2017, a course in traumatology, orthopedics and military field surgery joined the department. The Department of Traumatology, Orthopedics and Primary Care was created in 1971. The first head was Professor I.S. Polishchuk. Since 1992, the department was headed by Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Eduard Ivanovich Shairo for 20 years. His original method of revascularization of the head and neck of the femur was widely introduced into surgical practice for the treatment of Legge-Calvé-Perthes disease in children and secondary avascular necrosis of the femoral head in adults.

Objectives:

Training of competitive specialists with fundamental and applied knowledge, research skills, capable of solving the problems of modern medicine and complying with the requirements of the labor market.

Activities:

The department of neurosurgery with a course of traumatology conducts: training of bachelor students of 4,5 courses of the faculty “General Medicine”, interns of 6, 7 courses in the specialty “General medical practice”, residents in the specialties “Neurosurgery adult, child” and “Traumatology and orthopedics adult, child”

Educational, clinical and applied activity of the Department of Neurosurgery with a course of traumatology is carried out in the development of the cadaver center on the basis of the university. The center is equipped with modern equipment: a C-arm, a radiolucent table, spinal instruments, an endoscopic stand and a refrigerator for corpses. Video broadcasting from the cadaver center is carried out in the adjacent classrooms and lecture hall, which allows to gather a large audience of both doctors of neurosurgery and traumatology, as well as trainees – residents and interns.

Achievements:

With the development of technology at this time under the guidance of the department in the neurosurgical department of Aktobe performed all types of complex operations on the CNS, mastered highly specialized technologies for the treatment of hemorrhagic stroke with the use of local thrombolysis and clipping, endovascular interventions for aneurysms and arteriovenous malformations. Microsurgical operations on stem structures in tumors, stabilizing operations: installation of cages, transpedicular fixation, vertebroplasty. All employees of the department and the chair have undergone specializations in the leading neurosurgical centers of the country, near and far abroad in: Astana, Almaty, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kazan, Novokuznetsk, Kiev, Essen, Dusseldorf, Seoul, Jerusalem, Lisbon, Dublin, Helsinki.

To date, the Department of Neurosurgery with a course of traumatology has conducted 4 cadaver courses at international and national levels.

Cadaver section of simulation center LMS “Neuroplan” + scientific ARM (Hardware-software complex LMS Multivox) with participation of Ramil Shamilievich Tankacheev (neurosurgeon doctor, head of “SeptralClinic” Astana), Denis Valeryevich Mambetov (chief IT specialist of “Labmedservice” LLP) and Vladimir Yurievich Donosov (head of IT medical equipment development department).

Cadaver Course October 4-5, 2018: Accesses in pelvic and acetabular fracture surgery.

Cadaver course April 26, 2019: “Minimally invasive technologies in spinal neurosurgery: Techniques of percutaneous transpedicular fixation, kyphoplasty, vertebroplasty”.

The theme of research and development of the department “Prevention and treatment of purulent complications in traumatology”.

The theme of Research and Development Department “International, multicenter, randomized, simple blind, placebo-controlled study of efficacy and safety of the drug CYTOFLAVIN® in the acute period of craniocerebral trauma in adults”.

One graduate is studying in a PhD doctoral program in Hungary.

At present at the department are trained doctoral student of 1 year of training on specialty “Medicine” – Kundubaev R.A..

Employees of the department published articles in peer-reviewed journals Web of Science and Scopus.
