The Department of Natural Sciences was organized in 1999 as a result of the merger of two departments of medical biophysics and medical biology with medical genetics.

Activity

Since 2010, the course of molecular biology of the department of Natural Sciences has begun training scientific and pedagogical personnel in the educational programs “Master’s” and “Doctorate”. As part of the master’s educational program in the specialty “Medicine”, 5 masters of medical sciences were trained (Zharmakhanova G.M., Syrlybaeva L.M., Kuzdenbaeva G.E., Batyrova G.A., Kononets V.I.).

In 2015 and 2019 teachers of the department Zharmakhanova G. and Batyrova G. successfully defended their doctoral dissertations for the of degree Doctor PhD. Experimental study by Zharmakhanova G. was carried out within the framework of the targeted scientific and technical program of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan: “Development of new technologies for protecting children’s health and reproductive health” (No. GR 0114RK00485) together with the departments of pharmacology of the West Kazakhstan State Medical University, pharmacology and immunology of the Poznan University of Medical Sciences. Research by Batyrova G. was carried out within the framework of research work with grant funding from the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan “Epidemiology of endemic goiter in the Western region of Kazakhstan and the development of recommendations for the prevention of iodine deficiency conditions.”

One of the important ways to improve the educational process at the department was the widespread introduction of innovative teaching methods into the educational process; problem-based learning (PBL), team-based learning (TBL) using various types of technical teaching aids.

Further optimization of the educational and methodological process at the department was associated with the introduction of new forms of enhancing students’ cognitive activity, holding subject Olympiads, and developing various forms of monitoring students’ knowledge.

Under the guidance of professor Iztleuov M.K.: 5 doctoral, 15 candidate and 6 master’s theses were defended; 13 teaching aids, 2 monographs and 3 textbooks were published; inventions – 2, patents – 2, copyright certificates of state registration of rights to the object of copyright – 8.
