Currently, the Department consists of 1 Doctor of Philosopy, 1 Professor, 1 candidate of historical sciences, 2 PhD, 1 docent, 10 masters of Sciences, including 5 senior lecturers, 2 lecturers, 2 laboratory assistants. The Department taught the following courses: «History of Kazakhstan», «Fundamentals of anti-corruption culture and fundamentals of law», «Socio-political knowledge: Sociology, political science, cultural studies», «Medical law and forensic medicine», «Philosophy» as the elective being studied “Fundamentals of entrepreneurial activity” in accordance with state standards.
History of the Department
The Department of social-humanitarian disciplines was organized in conjunction with the opening of the Institute in 1957 and was then called the Department of “Fundamentals of Marxism – Leninism.” A special mark in the history of the Department left her head, candidate of economic Sciences, associate Professor Marat Ospanov.
(17.09.1949, Aktobe – 23.01.2000, Almaty), headed the Department from 1981 to 1989. From 1979 to 1989, while working as a lecturer, senior lecturer, docent, head of chair of history of CPSU and political economy brilliantly lectured at ASMI, did a lot of community work as a lecturer society “Znanie”. The Department of history of CPSU and political economy, was headed by candidate of historical Sciences are the Nikolai Mykh (1989-1992), doctor of historical Sciences, Professor N.Abdullaev (1992-1993). In 1993 the Department of history of CPSU and political economy, joined the Department of philosophy and scientific communism, which established the «Department of social ciences». The Department was headed by doctor of philosophical Sciences, Professor Nikolay Ivanovich Gubanov (1993-1998), doctor of philosophical Sciences Azimbai Assarovich Assarov (1998-2000), senior lecturer Anar Sagintaevna Atyzbayeva (2001-2002), academician of the Academy of social Sciences, Professor, doctor of philosophical Sciences Altay Taizhanovich Tayzhanov (2002-2008). In 2008-2016 the Department was headed by candidate of historical sciences, associate Professor Suleimenov B.S.
Aims: To provide moral education of future doctors through the methodology of teaching humanities; in a research way to improve the quality of education.
Functions: Social and humanities disciplines are studied as a compulsory subject in all specialities, the course of philosophy and history of science is studied by all masters and doctoral students according to the educational program
Scientific activity: The department’s specialization is the publication of articles in scientific and information magazines of the country, including on philosophy, history, politics, and socio-cultural areas. According to the program, textbooks on the subjects of philosophy and political science were published. Of these, 4 have articles in the SCOPUS database, and more than 12 copyright certificates have been received.
Achievements of the Department
Since 2011 the Department has a public-debate club “Zerde”. The club is aimed at the development of worldview of students, formation of their political and civil installations, as well as discussion of important problems of society.
In 2017-2020 implemented the initiative projects “Globalization and socio-philosophical problems of education” and “Problems and prospects for the socio-economic development of Western Kazakhstan at the present stage.” Also in 2020-2023, the department also implemented an initiative scientific project “Social and cultural-cognitive foundations for the modernization of national consciousness.” Scientific supervisor: Doctor of philosophical Sciences, Professor A.T. Tayzhanov. International cooperation is also a priority direction of the department. In 2017, as part of the academic mobility program, Professor M. Bukaev was invited in the subject “Medical Law”. The project “Formation of legal competence as a component of ensuring quality medical education in the training of medical specialists” is being implemented, planned for 2023-2025.
The department actively uses educational literature within the framework of the project “New Humanitarian Knowledge. 100 new textbooks in the Kazakh language”.
As part of the implementation of the state program “Rukhani Zhangyru” and the Year of Youth in the Republic of Kazakhstan Marat Ospanov West Kazakhstan Medical University, the department together with the public fund named after. Marat Ospanov, from October 28 to November 1, 2019, held events dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the Chairman of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan of the first convocation, Doctor of Economic Sciences, Professor Marat Ospanov.
During 2017-2023, more than 100 articles and abstracts were published, of which 4 were published in the SCOPUS database, and more than 12 copyright certificates were received. In 2022, was published a book «Philosophy» by doctor of philosophy, professor A.T. Tayzhanov.
