Department of Surgical and Pediatric Dentistry

Taganiyazova Aliya Adylovna – candidate of medical sciences, head of the department, maxillofacial surgeon (adult) of the highest category, member of the Academic Councilthe president of the specialty “Dentistry”. Taganiyazova A.A graduated from the Faculty of Dentistry of KSMU in 1991.

Has been working at the department since the founding of the Faculty of Dentistry. In 2002 she defended her PhD thesis on the topic “Prevention and treatment of complications of acute odontogenic osteomyelitis in children.” Medical experience – 30 years.

History of creation: The Department of Dentistry was organized in 2000, and the first head was appointed candidate of medical sciences, associate professor Umbetyarov Bekim Aitzhanovich, a graduate of the Alma-Ata State Medical Institute. Umbetyarov Bekim Aitzhanovich is a qualified maxillofacial surgeon, has more than 40 scientific publications, a number of copyright certificates and rationalization proposals. During this period, teachers A.A. Taganiyazova, G.S. Akzharova, R.M. Uraz and G.B. Zhanabaeva worked as part of the department.. The department formed the teaching staff and the material and technical base for educational and methodological work in dental disciplines, developed curricula, and methodological recommendations for teachers and students. A methodology for assessing the control of students’ knowledge and practical skills at automated control systems was also actively introduced. The department taught such dental disciplines as therapeutic, surgical, orthopedic dentistry, pediatric dentistry and orthodontics.

Objectives:

– Continuous improvement of the educational process in order to improve the quality of education;

– Training of highly qualified personnel with high professional competence and high social responsibility both for practical healthcare and for scientific work in the field of medicine.

Activities: The department is based in 5 clinics: regional children’s dental clinic, regional children’s clinical hospital, dental clinic of West Kazakhstan Medical University named after Marat Ospanov, emergency hospital and Densaulyk dental clinic. The successes of the department are associated with the active educational, methodological, educational, clinical and scientific work of the department’s employees. Training at the department is conducted in two languages ​​– Kazakh and Russian. And also, the Department of Surgical and Pediatric Dentistry includes a residency in the specialty “Maxillofacial Surgery”.

An academic mobility program for students and teachers has been introduced and is being actively implemented.

Achievements: 10 – in the KOKSON RK database, 180-RISC, 1-Scopus; also, 1-textbook, 2-educational manual in Russian and state languages. 10 – copyright certificates and patents for inventions. The number of master’s theses is 5, the number of candidate’s theses is 1. Employees of the department annually participate in regional and international conferences.
