History of creation

As part of the World Bank Project “Technology Transfer and Institutional Reform in the Healthcare Sector of the Republic of Kazakhstan” in 2009, the Evidence-Based Medicine Training and Information Center (EBM-TIC) was established. It operated as a structural unit of the Marat Ospanov West Kazakhstan Medical University and was part of the educational and methodological department. After reorganization, in September 2014, it became a subdivision of the continuous professional development department in evidence-based medicine. Since September 2016, it has become an independent Evidence-Based Medicine Department, part of the Department of Continuing Professional Development. In line with the tasks set forth in the President’s Address, since September 2017, the department has been transformed into the Department of Evidence-Based Medicine and Scientific Management. In September 2018, the “Family Medicine and Primary Care Research Center” was established based on the department to actively support the modernization of primary medical and sanitary care in the country. Since September 2020, the center has been reorganized into the Department of Evidence-Based Medicine and Scientific Management.
